Custodian – High School

We are seeking a flexible, experienced, and highly motivated candidate that is committed to keeping our buildings clean for our students and staff.

JOB GOAL: To provide a clean and safe environment for our staff and students.

REPORTS TO: Buildings Services Coordinator


HOURS: Hours during the school year are 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and summer months are 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. May be required to work outside of scheduled work hours to assist with events including Saturdays or Sundays.

PAY: $13.88 per hour

The Custodian position has the following job duties:

1. General cleaning and disinfecting
2. Sweeping and dry mopping
3. Vacuuming
4. Cleaning bathrooms
5. Taking out garbage and recycling
6. Checking the HVAC and other building systems
7. General Maintenance (i.e. replace light bulbs, etc.)
8. Building projects as determined
9. Inspect fire alarm system and fire extinguishers
10. Checks and secures building at the end of shift
11. Reports all major mechanical or functional problems
12. Moves furniture as needed
13. Other duties as assigned.

Record of compliance with safety procedures at all times
Must be able to operate cleaning equipment
Basic reading and writing abilities.
Ability to allocate and prioritize time.
Capability to lift and maneuver objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
Ability to properly handle cleaning chemicals.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors under temperature variations.
Aptitude to follow safety standards as set forth by the district.
Ability to make routine decisions regarding daily schedule.
The position will involve standing and walking for up to 8 hours; bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, and reaching. A post-offer job specific physical screen is required.

Looking for a fun way to earn a little extra!? Mount Horeb area wedding barn looking to hire event staff for the 2018 season! Includes working about every other weekend throughout the season. Schedule is made as a group before season, so it can be flexible, and you can still make summer plans! Main responsibilities include: Directing guests with parking, light-moderate cleaning throughout event, re-stocking of supplies, and monitoring the property during the event. Must be 21 or older, have reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification is a plus, but will provide. Here are some of the job details:

• The wedding season typically runs May thru October with occasional events in April and November.
• Schedule includes working about every other weekend, mostly Saturdays, but there are a few Sundays this season, with occasional weekday events. Scheduling is flexible among staff and decided as a group in mid-April.
• Shifts may be anywhere from 8 hours to 11 hours, they range in start/end times, , typically start in early afternoon and end around midnight, but this does vary, this detail is determined a few weeks in advance
• Pay is a flat rate of $200.00 per wedding.
• Main responsibilities include: Directing guests with parking and shuttling with golf cart, cleaning of bathrooms and trash removal throughout event, re-stocking of supplies, oversee the safety and security of the guests and property, and assisting the wedding party with general tasks as needed.
• Must be 21 or older and have reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license.
• CPR/First Aid/AED Certification is a plus, but we will provide.
