On December 2, stroll through the library and select your favorite holiday cookies! Finish your holiday baking without even turning on the oven! Then, stay for a special Storytime and visit with Santa!
The popular holiday craft is back! Add whimsy and cheer to your holiday decor with a festive yard gnome. Construct an evergreen gnome using a tomato cage and greenery then finish it off with a Santa hat, mittens and a nose!

On December 3, you can craft a fresh evergreen wreath to suit your holiday spirit! Learn how to bunch and wire a wreath using your choice of assorted greens. Add details such as ribbon or red berries to make it your own. Plenty of botanicals and bling to choose from.

Trollidays brings the sound of music to the streets with live performances and carolers, serenading you with the sweet melodies of the season. Feel the festive spirit in the air as you enjoy the magical tunes and captivating performances.
Come to Folklore Village for a community potluck and barn dance! Folklore Village’s Healthy Hoedowns are fun-filled evenings of traditional American dances, including old-time squares, New England contras, and Appalachian, Southern, and Midwestern big circles. No experience or special costume required. Families and beginners are always welcome! Our December barn dance features live music by the band Sweet Milk and Peaches, and dance calling by Viroqua-based caller Sue Hulsether. The night starts with a potluck at 6:00pm, with dancing to follow (around 7:15pm).
As the sun sets, the town comes to life in a blaze of twinkling lights and holiday splendor. Drive through beautifully illuminated streets, take in the brilliant holiday displays, and savor the enchanting ambiance.
Lights will be decorating parts of the cave for the holidays. The fun will begin December 1st and last all month long. The most notable section will be the High Tunnel. It has a high ceiling that will have twinkly lights draping downward for the perfect holiday photo!
On December 2, the Fire Truck Parade will start on the east end of town on Springdale St and drive to Main St to Grandma Fosters Park for the tree Lighting. Parade starts at 5pm.
On December 16, join in on one of Folklore Village’s most eagerly anticipated socials of the year where, in the German tradition, they light real candles on a freshly-cut, 14-foot tall evergreen tree. Bring a dish for the potluck at 6:00 PM and then stay to enjoy the beauty of the season with a harmony-filled carol sing and joyful, family-friendly dancing around the tree. Musicians are welcome and encouraged to join in the informal, volunteer Folklore Village orchestra. This is a popular event and may fill. Tickets will be available online and by calling (608) 924-4000.
Don’t miss the chance to meet Santa Claus himself! Santa will be making several special appearances, spreading cheer and taking wish lists from the little ones. It’s a moment of pure magic that you and your family will cherish.
On December 2, head to the Public Library to enjoy Santa Storytime, craft stations, photo opportunities with Santa, and a mailbox to send your letters to the North Pole!
